    Dr. Isha Metzger

    Project Director

    Dr. Metzger is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist focused on consulting and supervising the delivery of evidence-based treatments to underserved individuals seeking treatment for problems related to trauma exposure, anxiety and mood, substance misuse, and risky sexual behaviors. Dr. Metzger is the lead on planning and executing tasks necessary to meet project goals and objectives in evidence-based trauma, HIV, and substance misuse prevention and treatment for racial/ethnic minorities in the community.

    Dr. Sierra Carter

    Evaluator

    Our Evaluator, Dr. Carter has expertise in evaluating prevention programming for racial/ethnic minorities, specifically African Americans, in healthcare/community settings. Dr. Carter will take the lead on evaluating the project's navigation services.

    Dr. Rushelle Leone

    Substance Use Prevention Expert

    Dr. Leone brings to the team her expertise in evidence-based substance use prevention and treatment, and culturally tailored prevention and treatment for substance use to the team. Dr. Leone will be Co-Leader of Project NaviGAte's Public Health Messaging Campaign Practicum.

    Dr. Amanda Gilmore

    Technology-Based Prevention Expert

    Dr. Gilmore has expertise in evidence-based technology-based prevention for substance use and HIV, treatment of individuals living with HIV and/or misuse substances, and LGBTQIA+ communities. Dr. Gilmore with Co-Lead a Practicum experience for Project NaviGAte's Public Health Messaging Campaign.

    Dr. Natalie Watson-Singeton

    Consultant

    Dr. Watson-Singleton has expertise in mental health among trauma exposed Black women and is an Assistant Professor at Spelman College (a historically Black college for women).

    Dr. Jessica Maples-Keller

    Consultant

    Dr. Maples-Keller contributes to the project her expertise in treatment of trauma exposed racial/ethnic minorities and her professional experience within Grady Hospital and other trauma centers in the greater Atlanta area.

    Ashanti J. Brown (she/her)

    Ashanti is our Lead Navigator in charge of daily project tasks including creating new partnerships, developing sustainable and culturally competent plans for substance use and HIV prevention, developing and implementing navigation services, and identifying and providing opportunities for screening and testing. She will be the main point of contact for all of our community partners.

    Caleb J. Brown (he/him)

    Caleb is our Research Coordinator supporting the day-to-day operations of Project NaviGAte, ensuring smooth communication between the research team and community partners. He assists with coordinating project activities such as scheduling meetings, tracking deliverables, managing documentation, and supporting the PI and Lead Navigator as needed. His work is essential to maintaining momentum and ensuring timely progress across all project goals.

    Sawyer J. Adams (they/them)

    Sawyer is our Graduate Research Assistant contributing to Project NaviGAte by supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Community Needs Assessment, navigation services, and public health campaigns. They assist with data collection, literature reviews, partner communications, and the preparation of presentations and manuscripts for dissemination. Their academic training allows them to bring a research-informed perspective to our community-based work.

    Ashleigh Atwell (she/her)

    Ashleigh is our Research Technician and plays a key role in supporting the technical and logistical aspects of Project NaviGAte. She assists with data collection, management, and preliminary analysis for our Community Needs Assessment and screening efforts. She also helps ensure that research protocols are followed, materials are prepared for fieldwork, and equipment is maintained and ready for use. Her precision and problem-solving skills help keep our research activities on track and high quality.

    Alexis Johnson (she/her)

    Alexis is our Postbacc Research Assistants supporting a wide range of project activities, including assisting with data entry and analysis, creating educational content for social media and outreach efforts, and supporting community screening and awareness events. She also contributes to documenting project impact and engaging the public through social justice-oriented writing and research. Her passion for health equity and learning is a vital part of our team’s energy and effectiveness.

    Jamal Brown (he/him)

    Jamal is our Digital Media Specialist leading the production of digital content for Project NaviGAte, including video and audio editing, graphic design, and visual storytelling to highlight our mission and milestones. He tracks and report monthly performance metrics for our digital platforms and ensure our public health messaging is engaging, accessible, and culturally informed. He also helps standardize media outreach practices like newsletters and website updates to keep our community informed.

    Dr. Cristin Rollins (she/her/ella)

    Dr. Cristin Rollins serves as a consultant for Project NaviGAte, providing expert guidance on evaluation, messaging, and implementation strategies. As President & CEO of Statement House, she brings over 25 years of experience helping youth- and family-focused programs turn evidence into impact. Her leadership has strengthened our ability to communicate clearly, build partnerships, and design sustainable, community-driven solutions.
